Wallace Rodriguez Jr.
August 23, 1961 - March 26, 2019
Wallace Rodriguez Jr. 1961 ~ 2019 After a long and difficult journey laden with illness and struggles; God’s child, Wallace Rodriguez Jr, 57, was finally called to be in the eternal love of his father in heaven on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Lathonia, Georgia after a courageous battle with health issues resulting in cardiac arrest. Wallace was born August 23, 1961 to Wallace Sr. and Tillie (Williams) Roderiquez in Waco, Texas. The eldest of two sons, Wallace spent his childhood traveling with his army family until they settled down in Denver when he was 11. Wallace was a graduate of George Washington High School and the University of Arizona in business (1979). A man of many strengths and talents, Wallace took up the torch for which his father before him had set an example and chose to join the armed forces as a specialist in the communications division of the army. Serving 4 years in services, he returned to Denver six months after the birth of his daughter Georgina in 1990. Both driven and smart he found work in several companies over the years as a corporate sales man until complications of illness prevented the ability for further employment. An avid and dedicated lover of music, especially jazz; Wallace almost never missed a chance to go to live music events throughout the year. He was a devotee of the summer jazz concerts in City Park and even rode a pink scooter to be able to attend. God always close to his heart, in his illness; he was all the closer and took every opportunity to receive God’s message, whether that was attending in person or watching services online. Through all of his life’s journey, Wallace was fortunate enough to have a band of loyal and true friends: Hubert, Hugh, Willy, Jo, and Kenneth Harden. Blessed with a big heart, Wallace always gave freely of himself, his time, and was an all-around big teddy bear. His life was filled with laughter and lots of love, he will be greatly missed. A man of many words and gifts, those left to cherish his memories include his two daughters. His eldest Georgina Nanoshika Rodriguez, 29, a English major attending Metropolitan University of Denver and his youngest Tamara Lachea Rodriguez, 28, who resides in San Diego, California, his mother Tillie (Williams) Roderiquez of Denver, his younger brother Gregory Dale Rodriguez of , as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his friend Kenneth Harden, who he probably is high-fiving in heaven now, his father, Wallace Sr, and his grandparents, Lacy Sr. and Lennie Williams, as well as; Jo and Beulah Rodriguez. Time of gathering will be held on Monday April 8, 2019from 12 until at 200 at Greater St. John Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado with Reverend Richardson Jr officiating. Interment followed at Ft. Logan Cemetery under the direction of Ballard Funeral Services. Visitation will be held from 11am to 12pm, at Greater St. John BC before funeral. Reception will be held proceeding funeral in dining area of church. Daddy There were countless times for which we took your love for granted and became stubborn in our ways. However, through all the changing of the seasons and the years that have passed us by; you were always there when it was needed. You never let us down. You always loved us and we you. We want to let you know how blessed we were to have you and how much light and joy you brought into our lives each day. Sturdy and strong; your teachings and wise words are the foundation for which we built out lives. No one could have been as perfect as you were. Your arms were our shelter, you wiped away our tears. Assured us that we could do better, fly higher, and do anything we wished. Your hands were our comfort, lifting up when we fell. Only a heart as dear as yours would give so selflessly. You have laughed with us, cried with us, and stood solid as a rock. For all the love and care you have showered on us, all we can say in this goodbye…. We love you, We love you, We love you
