Born on January 1, 1956, in Denver, CO, to Charlotte "Hackett" Johnson and Harold Johnson Sr., Jody's life journey was marked by a profound love for family, music, and the joy of dancing. Growing up in the heart of Denver, Jody's childhood home on 3529 Elizabeth St. was a place filled with laughter and love. She shared her early years with her brothers, Albert Trasvan, Stephen Johnson (wife Kathrine Johnson), Harold Johnson Jr. (wife Roberta Joy), and Douglas Johnson. Jody's educational journey led her to Cure d’ Ars Catholic for grade and middle school in Denver, followed by her time at South High School. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and the University of Colorado, Boulder Campus. Known for her passion for dance, Jody was a lively presence in dance clubs at South High School. Her love for SOUL music, particularly Marvin Gaye's "Let’s Get It On" and Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the Key Of Life," reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for the power of music. On June 5, 1987, Jody embarked on a lifelong journey with Virgil Owens, and their union was a testament to enduring love. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children Nyema Owens and Nehemia Owens, and were blessed with seven grandchildren. Jody's legacy is not only marked by her professional achievements and academic pursuits but by the immeasurable impact she had on those around her. Her infectious laughter, unwavering love for family, and the joy she found in spending time with her grandchildren will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Jody and Virgil celebrated 37 years of marriage, creating a legacy of love, commitment, and shared moments that will continue to inspire generations to come. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, let us also celebrate the rich tapestry of a life well-lived. May Jody find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to dance in the hearts of those she touched with her love and laughter.
